TerraMine Rock Mine Guide: Common Does Not Mean Worthless

Rock mines will probably form the foundation of your TerraMine portfolio. Their memory game is not my fastest TerraBucks grind, but it is easy, dependable and capable of producing 10 TB per mine before an ad.

Do not be discouraged by Rock mines

Rock is the most common TerraMine property type at approximately 60% of all mines. If your first group contains far more Rock than Coal, Gold or Diamond, that is the expected outcome—not unusually bad luck.

Rock generates TerraMine’s baseline passive-income rate. Baseline is not the same as worthless: every active Rock property still contributes income, and a sufficiently large Rock portfolio can help reach the maximum payout or whatever monthly target you have chosen.

The right mental model: rare mines improve the average quality of your portfolio; common Rock mines provide its mass. A payout target is ultimately reached through total production, not rarity labels alone.

TerraMine’s current published distribution is roughly 60% Rock, 30% Coal, 9% Gold and 1% Diamond. The same official comparison lists Coal at 1.5×, Gold at 2× and Diamond at 4× Rock’s passive rate. See TerraMine’s official mine breakdown.

How the Rock memory game works

The Rock minigame is a straightforward memory-match puzzle with 12 face-down cards forming six pairs:

⛏️ Pickaxes
🪖 Headlamps
🏮 Lamps
🛒 Minecarts
🥘 Gold pans
💎 Diamonds

Reveal two cards at a time and match identical items. Clear all six pairs within the available time and guesses to complete the round. The limits are generous in my experience, so this is an easy game once you use a consistent method.

6 pairs · 12 cards · 2 TB per completed round · up to 10 TB before the next ad

My four-corner memory method

  1. Choose four permanent opening tiles. For example: top-left, bottom-left, top-right and bottom-right.
  2. Reveal those four first every round. A fixed opening removes indecision and gives you four known anchors.
  3. Take any immediate match. If two corner cards match, clear that pair immediately.
  4. If they do not match, remember their positions. As you reveal the remaining cards, each matching symbol can be paired instantly with its known corner.
  5. Finish the remaining pairs methodically. Avoid random tapping; each reveal should either complete a known pair or add one new location to memory.
Why the method works: you are not trying to memorize all 12 cards at once. You establish four reliable reference points, then use the remaining reveals to connect back to them.

The exact four tiles do not matter. Corners are simply easy to identify and remember. Consistency matters more than choosing a theoretically perfect opening.

Rock rewards, XP and the five-game stopping point

Under the current structure I see in the app, each completed Rock round pays 2 TB. A perfect five-round batch therefore produces a maximum of 10 TB. At that point the XP bar is filled and an ad is required to open the next game level.

Two efficient ways to use Rock mines

1. Take the no-ad 10 TB and move on

Complete the five available memory games, collect 10 TB, then switch to the next Rock mine. Because Rock is so common, a growing portfolio can provide many of these five-game batches without requiring an unlock ad during the session.

Ten Rock mines, for example, can represent up to 100 TB from their ready five-game batches. Rock may be slower per minute than my preferred Coal and Gold grinds, but a large inventory makes the total meaningful.

2. Prime Rock mines during downtime

When I can watch ads but cannot actively solve games, I can unlock the next levels on several Rock mines. Later, during active play time, I work through those primed mines consecutively.

This is the same separation-of-labor idea used in the Gold Mine guide: place ads in low-attention periods and reserve game rounds for the time when you actually want to play.

Where Rock ranks for earning TerraBucks

I currently lean toward Coal first, Gold second, Diamond third and Rock fourth as direct minigame sources of TB. That is a practical farming preference, not a ranking of which properties are valuable overall.

MineTB-farming roleWhy I use it
CoalPrimary grindBest raw TB yield in my experience
GoldEasy secondary grindFast, low-friction road puzzles
DiamondRare opportunityWorth using when available, but only ~1% of mines
RockReliable foundationEasy, plentiful and good for no-ad 10-TB batches

Rock also breaks up the monotony of repeating Coal routes and Gold road puzzles. A less efficient game that you are willing to keep playing can be more useful than the theoretically best grind you have grown tired of.

Rock mines and the payout goal

Mine rarity affects how much each property earns, but your monthly result comes from the combined output of the entire portfolio. A Rock-heavy account may need more total properties than a luckier account, yet continued acquisition still moves the income estimate upward.

  • Do not delay growth waiting for rare mines: mine type is assigned randomly after a property is claimed.
  • Count Rock toward the real goal: total boosted monthly income or your chosen cashout target.
  • Use its abundant minigames: common mines create many independent 10-TB batches.
  • Model the whole portfolio: use the TerraMine earnings calculator instead of judging the account by its rarest pull.
  • Keep expectations proportional: Coal, Gold and Diamond improve the average, but Rock remains the normal base.
Bottom line: celebrate rare mines, but build with the mines you actually receive. Enough ordinary production can still create meaningful beer-money income.

Frequently asked questions

Are Rock mines bad in TerraMine?

No. Rock is the baseline and most common property, but it still produces passive USD income and provides a repeatable TB minigame. A large Rock base can contribute substantially toward a payout target.

How rare are Rock mines?

TerraMine currently lists Rock at approximately 60% of all properties. Actual results in a small personal portfolio can vary because each mine is randomly assigned.

How does the Rock minigame work?

It is a 12-card memory game containing six matching pairs. Reveal two cards at a time, remember their locations and match all pairs within the time and guess limits.

How many TerraBucks can I earn before an ad?

My current games award 2 TB per completion. Five completed rounds produce up to 10 TB before the filled XP bar requires an ad for the next level.

What is the easiest memory strategy?

Always reveal the same four easy-to-identify tiles first—such as the four corners. Clear any immediate pair, then remember those four symbols while uncovering the rest of the board.

Should I watch ads on Rock mines?

You can first collect each mine’s available 10-TB batch and move on without an ad. If you want more rounds, watch unlock ads during downtime to prime several mines for a later session.

Is Rock better than Coal or Gold for TB?

Not in my current estimation. I prefer Coal for raw yield and Gold for easy speed. Rock remains worthwhile because it is simple, reliable and extremely common.
